What is dry needling?Dry needling is a technique that involves inserting thin needles into muscle tension areas to alleviate pain and improve movement. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling targets muscular dysfunction. At The Health Lab, we use dry needling to expedite successful outcomes.
-
Can dry needling help me and my pain?Dry needling may help alleviate pain and improve movement for various conditions, but it's essential to be evaluated by a healthcare professional first. At The Health Lab, our specialists will assess your specific needs and determine if dry needling is an appropriate treatment for you.
-
How do I know if pelvic floor physical therapy will help me?Pelvic floor physical therapy can address various issues such as pelvic pain, incontinence, pain with intercourse, prenatal preparation, and postpartum recovery. To determine if it’s right for you, it’s essential to be evaluated by a specialist. At The Health Lab, Sarah Kaderka, PT, DPT, will assess your specific needs and develop a personalized treatment plan for you.
-
I don't really like needles. Do I have to get dry needling if I come to The Health Lab?No, at The Health Lab we offer a variety of treatments, including cupping, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (scraping), joint manipulation, joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, and dry needling. Based on the assessment and your preferences, we can use any of these tools to treat your current pain issues.
-
How often will I have to come for physical therapy?Often, doctors prescribe physical therapy 2x per week for 5 weeks. Sadly, it takes the body at least 8 weeks to start to adapt, so traditional physical therapy often ends before any real change occurs. At The Health Lab, we see people less frequently over a longer time frame to ensure actual physical change. We consider the tissue's irritability, how long you've had the issue, and your goals to build a specific plan for you.
